Before You Order

SERA surfaces are made by hand using traditional processes and natural materials. Variations in colour, tone, texture, dimensions and edges are an inherent part of their character and should be expected.

Please review the information below before placing your order.

1. Order Samples First

We strongly recommend ordering samples before purchasing a full quantity.

Samples allow you to assess the colour, finish, texture and scale of the material in your own space and lighting conditions. Please note that a sample represents the general character of the product and may not show the full range of variation found in a complete order.

Colours displayed on screens may differ from the physical material due to lighting, photography and individual display settings.

2. Expect Natural Variation

Handcrafted tiles are not designed to look perfectly uniform.

Differences may include:

* colour and tonal variation;

* irregular edges and surfaces;

* slight differences in dimensions and thickness;

* small pores, chips, pinholes or surface marks;

* variations in glaze, pigment and pattern alignment.

These characteristics are part of the artisanal production process and are not normally considered defects.

3. Order the Full Quantity at Once

We recommend ordering the entire quantity required for your project in a single order.

Materials produced in different batches may vary in colour, tone, texture or dimensions. SERA cannot guarantee an exact match between separate production batches or later orders.

Consider retaining a small quantity after installation for future repairs or alterations.

4. Include an Installation Allowance

We recommend ordering at least 15% additional material to allow for:

* cutting;

* selection and blending;

* breakage;

* installation requirements;

* future repairs.

For diagonal layouts, complex patterns, small spaces with many cuts or highly variable handmade materials, an allowance of 20% or more may be appropriate.

Your installer should confirm the final quantity before the order is placed.

5. Confirm Suitability for Your Project

Not every material, finish or format is suitable for every application.

Suitability may depend on:

* wall or floor installation;

* residential or commercial use;

* wet areas and showers;

* exterior or freeze-prone environments;

* underfloor heating;

* sealing and maintenance requirements.

Review the product specifications and installation guide before ordering. For unusual or technically demanding applications, seek advice from a qualified installer or contact SERA.

6. Made-to-Order Products and Lead Times

Many SERA products are made to order.

Production lead times shown on the product page are estimates and begin after the order, specifications and payment have been confirmed. Delivery time is additional and may vary depending on the destination and order size.

Handcrafted production cannot be rushed without affecting the quality and character of the

7. Check Your Order Before Installation

All boxes should be inspected as soon as the order is received.

Before installation:

* confirm that the product, colour, format and quantity are correct;

* inspect the tiles for visible transport damage;

* review the overall variation across several boxes;

* dry-lay and blend tiles from different boxes;

* notify SERA promptly of any incorrect, missing or damaged items.

Do not install material that appears incorrect, damaged or unsuitable.

Installation generally constitutes acceptance of the material. Claims relating to visible issues may not be accepted after the tiles have been installed.

8. Use an Experienced Installer

Handcrafted tile requires different handling from machine-made ceramic tile.

Installation should be carried out by a qualified professional experienced with the specific material. The installer is responsible for evaluating the substrate, layout, adhesive, grout, sealing method and suitability of the product for the intended application.

Always follow the relevant SERA installation and care guide.
